Introduction: One of the companies that we are sure to meet with every ICAST is Lew's. The fast growing brand has one of the most robust baitcaster offerings and this season they not only introduced new reels but re-launched popular lines with updated features and ergonomics.

Team Lew's Pro-Ti SLP: The Team Lew's Pro-Ti SLP is the highest-end reel in the Lew's lineup and though this reel debuted before ICAST we still get excited each and every time we hold this reel in hand. The most striking characteristic of the reel is the titanium deposition finish that covers and protects the aluminum frame and sideplates. Low weight is a priority in this series and it weighs in at only 6.3oz. partly because of the use of hard aluminum alloy speed gears cut on a Hamai CNC gear hobbing machine.

The Team Lew's Pro-Ti SLP is every bit the halo reel, it showcases all that the company has to offer in a shiny, desirable, dare I say sexy package. Though it isn't cheap at $349.99 all it takes is a few cranks of the handle on this silky-smooth reel and it suddenly all makes sense, and let us not forget those purple highlights which scream enthusiast.

Speed Spool LFS: The line that the company is probably best known for, the Speed Spool, is back with a new LFS model. The LFS platform stands for Lighter, Faster, and Stronger, which are all attributes built into the new Speed Spool reel with the one piece aluminum skeletal frame. The reel features a 10 bearing system with stainless steel double shielded bearings and a Zero Reverse one-way clutch, which vastly reduces backplay. The cast control system on the new reel is an externally adjustable Magnetic Control System (MCS).

The workhorse that is the Speed Spool just got better with the updated LFS version

There will be three retrieve speeds offered with the Speed Spool LFS (5.6:1, 6.8:1, and 7.5:1) and judging by what we were able to see and experience at ICAST this is not only the most refined and feature-rich Speed Spool yet, it continues to represent one of the best values in the industry at only $99.99.

Tournament Pro LFS: Anglers looking for more refinement in a LFS class reel will need to look no further than the updated Tournament Pro LFS baitcaster. This reel ups the ante significantly by including Lew's new P2 Super Pinion bearing supported pinion gear which proves better alignment and stability that makes the reel feel even more solid and smoother while extending overall gear life. To put pressure on fish a beefed up carbon fiber drag system provides up to 20lbs. of drag power. The new reel looks and feels even higher-end with the lightweight 95mm carbon fiber handle and additional useful features including a Speed Dial line Indicator integrated into the spool tension knob, and a patented Speed Keeper hook keeper that makes it quick and easy to stow a variety of baits onto the lower front section of the reel no matter what rod anglers choose to pair with this reel.

The Tournament Pro packs in the features and feels much more refined than the Speed Spool

The Tournament Pro baitcaster looks and feels like a major step up from the Speed Spool LFS and retails for twice the price at $199.99. The Speed Spool feels like a workhorse reel and though the Tournament Pro features the same basic form factor it does feel significantly more refined.
